Langham, SK, November 20, 2025 – The second episode of Welcome to the Farm Show Season 2, “From Feed to Food”, takes audiences inside one of the most vital aspects of Canadian agriculture, the relationship between producers and their animals.

Filmed at Ag in Motion, Western Canada’s largest outdoor farm show, the episode explores how livestock producers, young show competitors, nutrition experts and local chefs come together to share the complete farm-to-table story. The episode begins with young producers showcasing their animals in the Ag in Motion Junior Cattle Show and families who plan months in advance for the event.

“At the Junior Cattle Show, you’re seeing young people and their families proudly showcase their livestock,” says show director Rob O’Connor. “These animals represent years of breeding, care and hard work. Many audience visitors will be looking at those animals, or the genetics those animals represent, to make a purchasing decision that will help them improve their own farm.”

Beyond the excitement of the cattle show, the latest episode also highlights the full circle of food production. Behind every great steak or burger is a careful balance of genetics, feed and management – something John Maltman, ruminant nutritionist with Highline Manufacturing, knows well.

“We love beef production, but it’s a business,” says Maltman. “We can’t always least-cost, but we can best-cost. We look at what ingredients are available, what each animal needs, and then build the diet around that.”

Also featured is chef Marcia Ellis from Biggar Bites Catering, located in nearby Biggar, Sask. Who has brought her food truck to Ag in Motion to feed hungry show visitors. Marcia shares the reasons why her beef brisket sandwiches are a show-goer favourite, and why she always prioritizes quality when it comes to sourcing western Canadian beef.
